Worried about your grades or academic standing? Consult with your professor or program as soon as issues arise, then register to attend any of the webinars hosted by TMAPS, TMGSU, TMSU, and the Ombudsperson’s office. The webinars will be approximately two hours long.

Academic Standing Issues: What Are My Options?
Are you concerned about being on Academic Probation, Required To Withdraw (RTW), Standing Variation Withdrawal (SVW), Permanent Program Withdrawal (PPW), or Withdrawn? The “Academic Standing Issues” webinar will cover the basics about TMU’s academic standings and the various options available to students who find themselves facing academic challenges. Qualifying for Fresh Start and the benefits of that program will be explained, reinstatement and transfer processes, as well as a brief overview of appeal options will be covered. Facilitators will be from Student Learning Support, TMSU, TMAPS, TMGSU, and the Ombudsperson’s Office.

How to Write a Strong Appeal
Do you disagree with a final grade or academic standing recently assigned to you? Did you face extenuating circumstances or experience an unfair barrier that caused you to do poorly in your academic performance? If these questions are relevant to you, then the “How to Write a Strong Appeal” webinar will help you determine if you should file a grade appeal or a standing appeal, or both. Tips on writing a strong appeal will be discussed. Facilitators are the Advocates from TMAPS, TMSU, and TMSU. Register for one of the sessions below.

Upcoming Student Rights Workshop: Academic Integrity and Gen AI at TMU (Hybrid)

You are invited to attend a hybrid workshop presented by student rights advocates at TMSU and TMAPS on Policy 60: Academic Integrity. The purpose of these workshops is to address the risk of using Gen AI in your academic work and understanding how to use Gen AI as a tool while upholding your own academic integrity at TMU.

Hybrid Workshop

Learn how to navigate and prevent accusations of academic misconduct in academic career at TMU due to Gen Ai use with the TMAPS Student Rights Coordinator. The session will cover where to find information about whether generative AI use is allowed in a course, the different levels of generative AI use, good practices for using generative AI responsibly and transparently, and appropriate ways to cite generative AI.
