Election Positions Available and Nomination Forms
TMAPS is hosting an election from March 23 – 26, 2026 for executive positions and director positions for our Board of Directors. The election will be governed by the By-laws and the Elections policy of TMAPS.
Eligible students must email the Chief Returning Officer at elections@tmaps.ca to indicate their interest in running and receive five (5) eligible nominations by the deadline of March 13, 2026 by 7:00 pm
The five (5) executive positions are are eligible for an hourly wage of $27.08 with an average work week of 20 hours per Academic Session, if they satisfy the duties and responsibilities.
The five (5) director positions are eligible for an honorarium of up to $500 per Academic Session, which shall be paid out three times during the fiscal year if board members satisfy the duties and responsibilities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Executives and Directors shall implement the decisions of the General Meetings and act as the governing body of TMAPS. Executives and Directors must comply with the Act, TMAPS Bylaws and Policies, and all applicable Ontario, Canadian, and international laws. Executives and Directors shall not miss more than two (2) Board of Directors or General Meetings without valid cause presented to the Board. Each Executives and Director shall enroll in and attend a minimum of one (1) course during each fiscal year of their term and shall pay all applicable TMAPS course fees.
Directors shall not be employed by TMAPS or be eligible for TMAPS bursaries or emergency grants during their term of office. Executives and Directors shall receive and act upon petitions from the membership with due diligence, report on such actions to General Meetings, and provide regular updates on their work and relevant matters at meetings. Executive and Directors are responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable labour laws, regulations, and the Collective Agreement governing TMAPS staff.
The Board may suspend or impeach any Executive Director who is not a Member, is otherwise ineligible to serve, or is in violation of the Bylaws. Executives and Directors shall participate in and, where appropriate, chair TMAPS committees, and may establish ad-hoc committees as required. Executives and Directors must attend all mandatory Board training, AODA training, anti-oppression training, and the Canadian Federation of Students Skills Symposium. The Board shall review and approve the annual budget during the Spring/Summer term.
Eligibility
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Understanding that this is a people-facing role.
- Be a TMAPS member of good standing currently registered in a TMAPS fee assessed course of the current term and not be a full-time degree (undergraduate or graduate) student at TMU.
How to Apply for Candidacy
- Email our Chief Returning Officer at elections@tmaps.ca with the subject: “Nomination” – (Role Name) – (Your Full Name) and briefly state your interest, your TMU student number, and your Chang School or Part-Time Degree course code for Winter 2026.
- Recieve a minimum of five (5) nominations using the digital nomination form from current TMAPS members who support your running for candidacy.
Executive Positions
President
The President is the chief spokesperson of TMAPS. They are responsible for the overall vision of the organization and making sure the Board, Executive and staff are resourced to make that vision happen.
Open to any students enrolled in a Chang School courses, certificate program, or part-time undergraduate degree.
Vice-President Academic and Governance and Policy
The Vice-President Academic and Governance and Policy is responsible for TMAPS governance and record keeping, as well as advocating in university committees such as the Senate and Chang School Council. They chair the Bylaws & Policy Committee. Open to any students enrolled in a Chang School courses, certificate program, or part-time undergraduate degree.
Vice-President Events and Outreach
The Vice-President of Events and Outreach is responsible for planning and coordinating events as well as volunteer programs with TMAPS. They are the chair of the Events Committee. Open to any students enrolled in a Chang School courses, certificate program, or part-time undergraduate degree.
Vice-President Services and Finance
The Vice-President of Services and Finance is responsible for the financial management of TMAPS and the delivery of services. They also chair the Bursary Committee and Finance Committee. Open to any students enrolled in a Chang School courses, certificate program, or part-time undergraduate degree.
Vice-President Equity and Campaigns
Vice-President Equity and Campaigns is responsible for ensuring equity considerations in all aspects of TMAPS’ work and Policies. They represent TMAPS when issues regarding discrimination and equity are raised in the TMU community and need to be addressed. They are the chair of the Equity & Campaigns Committee. Open to any students enrolled in a Chang School courses, certificate program, or part-time undergraduate degree.
