By-Election Positions Available and Nominations
TMAPS is Hosting a by-election on December 4, 2025 to fill vacant positions on our Board of Directors. Elections will be governed by the By-laws and the Elections policy of TMAPS.
Eligible students must submit their written nominations with a minimum of 5 signature nominators who are members in good standing, along with your signature as candidate, to the Chief Returning Officer at elections@tmaps.ca by the deadline November 17, 2025 by 8PM
The six (6) vacant director positions are eligible for an honorarium of up to $500 per Academic Session, which shall be paid out three times during the fiscal year if board members satisfy the duties and responsibilities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Directors shall implement the decisions of the General Meetings and act as the governing body of TMAPS. Directors must comply with the Act, TMAPS Bylaws and Policies, and all applicable Ontario, Canadian, and international laws. Directors shall not miss more than two (2) Board of Directors or General Meetings without valid cause presented to the Board. Each Director shall enroll in and attend a minimum of one (1) course during each fiscal year of their term and shall pay all applicable TMAPS course fees.
Directors shall not be employed by TMAPS or be eligible for TMAPS bursaries or emergency grants during their term of office. Directors shall receive and act upon petitions from the membership with due diligence, report on such actions to General Meetings, and provide regular updates on their work and relevant matters at meetings. Directors are responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable labour laws, regulations, and the Collective Agreement governing TMAPS staff.
The Board may suspend or impeach any Director who is not a Member, is otherwise ineligible to serve, or is in violation of the Bylaws. Directors shall participate in and, where appropriate, chair TMAPS committees, and may establish ad-hoc committees as required. Directors must attend all mandatory Board training, AODA training, anti-oppression training, and the Canadian Federation of Students Skills Symposium. The Board shall review and approve the annual budget during the Spring/Summer term.
Eligibility:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be a TMAPS member of good standing currently registered in a TMAPS fee assessed course of the current term and not be a full-time degree (undergraduate or graduate) student at TMU.
- Gather a minimum of five (5) signatures from current TMAPS members who support your running for candidacy.
- Attach photos of your five (5) nominators holding their TMU student ID card near their face when submitting your nomination form OR have them send it directly to our Chief Returning Officer at elections@tmaps.ca indicating who they are nominating. This is to avoid the risk of fraudulent candidacies.
- Complete the full nomination form corresponding to the role and email (see below) it to our Chief Returning Officer at elections@tmaps.ca with the subject: “Nomination Package” – (Role Name) – (Your Full Name)
